Catalina Island

It is time for you to leave all the hustle and bustle at home and head over to Catalina Island for a slower pace of life – the island life. It doesn’t matter if it is your first time on the island or you have been there most of your life, we are sure that you will certainly enjoy your time there and come back over and over again. Catalina Island has a very storied and rich history; it is where movies were made, where soldiers lived, where couples fell in love and where there is warm hospitality all around.

Catalina Island is just 22 miles southwest of the city of angels – Los Angeles, and it is one of the most southern sat islands of the Channel Islands within California. Catalina Island is made up of 2 different towns, Avalon and Two Harbors. Avalon is located at the east end while Two Harbors is at the west end. The island is only 8 miles across and 22 miles long. Outside of the towns are rugged and beautiful wilderness that is operated and owned by the Catalina Island Conservancy.

In order to even reach Catalina Island, you have to take a passenger ferry from San Pedro, Newport Beach, or Dana Point Long Beach, California. You may also hitch a ride on a helicopter, sail on a private boat, or use a private plane. There is an airport on Catalina Island called Airport in the Sky, actually sits on a mountaintop. You can also sail around or to Catalina Island and it happens to be a weekly top for a lot of different cruise ships.

When you are on the island, you will notice that most people get around by golf cart, foot, or by bike. The weather on this island is considered mild yet subtropical with warm sunny temperatures all year.

There are a lot of things to do on Catalina Island and that means for all ages.

If you are an adventurer, you can get your heartrate up by visiting the Zip Line Eco Tour, or the island eco-tour, or even trying diving. If you are wanting something that is a bit slower paces, then just sit back and relax on the sunny beaches, taking a trip to the spay, shopping, or just taking in the views of the island. Don’t worry there is more than just that on this island. There are art galleries and museums, golf courses, fishing, scuba diving, jet skis, paddle boarding, parasailing, and so much more.

If you are out for a family vacation, then there is a lot that you can choose from. You can make a visit to the island just a day trip or even overnight and your kids will love it. The kids will love the beautiful beaches, the unique ice cream shop and candy shop, and even the glass bottom boat tour. There is a lot out there for families.
