Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show

FLIBS or the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show happens to be one of the largest international events. It covers well over 69 acres of space within 7 different locations. Many visitors who join in will be able to see some of the newest and best superyachts in the area, many that are for sale and some really great car displays. With over 1500 boats being on display, that means there is over $4 billion worth of transportation.

It is hosted in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and that is considered to be the capital for yachts. The show really benefits from the unique beachfront location which provides the visitors with a great laid-back style. The FLIBS has really grown over the years and now offers VIP experiences while tenders are shown as well.

Often times the show is held during the Fall, normally between September and November. The exhibits range from builders and designers to brokerage and cars. There are many things that are on display such as canoes, inflatables, trawlers, jet boats, waterskis, catamarans, bowriders, motorized yachts, sailing vessels, express cruisers, skiffs, flat vessels, cabin cruisers, center consoles, high performance clippers, sportfishers, and runabouts. If you are looking to possible purchase your own schooner, then this is the place to be.

Many enthusiasts will often show up in droves for this event, which has really enjoyed a boost in attendance which is often provided by the sunny skies, and consumer optimism for the economy. Often times there are well over 106,000 visitors to these events.

If you are looking for a VIP experience, then check out the Windward Club which offers luxury areas for private dining, gourmet food, premium open bar, and plenty of meet and greet opportunities. This area is completely climate controlled and it is the best place to network, close sales and share all the excitement of this event. Every VIP experience package will have entry passes, access to the Windward Club, The Water Taxi, and Ulysse Nardin Captain’s Lounge. It is located near the luxury displays and next to the Swimming Hall of Fame. This area has many air-conditioned areas where you can relax after a long day of exploring and it has dedicated concierge services that are provided by Delmay as well as has private indoor bathrooms.

This event also offers Take the Helm classes that range from 1 hour to 3-hour classes. You can get hands on training by signing up for the skill classes that are offered. All instructors are professional certified and USCG licensed captains. They will be happy to take your skills to the next level and there is a class for everyone, whether you are a beginner or an expert. Some of the classes are basic docking skills, anchoring and multivessel rafting techniques, open water handling skills, advanced docking and precision control, and powerboating made easy.

If you want in one of these classes, you will have to register in advance as space is limited.
